Huge quantity of contraband substances recovered; 01 arrested

July 15: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler & recovered huge quantity of contraband substances in Kulgam and Budgam.

In Kulgam, on credible information regarding drug peddling in Bumrath area of Kulgam, a Police party from Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam raided the specific location. During search, officers in presence of Executive Magistrate Kulgam were able to recover 300 Kgs of Poppy Straw from the residential house of Mohammad Yaqoob Mir son of Khazir Mohammad Mir resident of Bumrath. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 174/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been taken up.

In similar action at Budgam, Police party from PS Chrar-i-Sharief raided a specific location following specific information regarding drug dealings in village Zaloosa. During search, officers in presence of Magistrate have recovered 25 Kgs of Poppy Straw from a residential house of Manzoor Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Zaloosa Chrar-i-Sharief however, he is evading his arrest and efforts are on to effect his arrest.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 88/2021 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Chrar-i-Sharief and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
