SHOPIAN, JUNE 05: A massive encroachment drive was today carried out by Tehsildar Keller as per by the directions of District Development Commissioner Shopian and over 130 kanals of Kahchari land was retrieved from the occupants.
Despite strong resentment from the locals the drive was successfully conducted at Narpora, tehsil Keller, both men and machinery were pressed into service by the officials to implement the directions of the DDC on ground.
The DDC directed the Tehsildars of the district to immediately carry out a comprehensive mapping of all encroachments relating to Kahcharai, state, forest and Panchayat land and other public roads in their respective jurisdictions and further directed them to continue the drive and retrieve the illegally occupied government lands.
