Srinagar: Authorities said a 25-year-old man died in a hospital at south Kashmir after he was shot by unknown gunmen on Friday evening at Redwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.A top police officer said that the suspected militants shot at Mehraj-Ud-Din Bhat, son of Mohd Akbar Bhat in south Kashmir’s Redwani area on Friday evening.Bhat, an auto driver by profession suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to PHC Qaimoh for treatment.A doctor at PHC Qaimoh said the young man had suffered five bullet wounds in his arms and legs. Bhat was referred to GMC Anantnag for specialized treatment.However, the injured later succumbed to injuries at GMC Anantnag. Medical Superintendent of GMC Anantnag Dr Majeed Mehrab also confirmed the death.Soon after the incident, the officer said, the security forces launched a hunt to nab the assailants. The incident comes a day after a paramilitary trooper, part of deployment of enforce COVID restrictions in south Kashmir, was shot and injured.
