Srinagar, 13 Aug 2021. On 12 August 2021 at around 2:25 PM militants opened fire on
a BSF convoy in the vicinity of Malapura, near Wissu, along the Jammu Srinagar
National Highway (NH-44). This prompted swift reaction by Anantnag based Rashtriya
Rifles Battalion, the highway domination Battalion, along with elements of JKP and
Central Reserve Police Force, resulting in trapping the terrorists, in a four storey house,
adjoining the National Highway. A cordon was established to contain the terrorists in the
house. Multiple surrender appeals were made, but the terrorist refused to comply.
The operation continued well into the night, with intermittent exchange of small
arms fire between the Security Forces and terrorists, which continued till 9:45PM on 12
August. At first light on 13 August 2021, during clearance of the house, the body of one
Pakistani terrorist, identified by JKP as Usman Bhai, along with one AK-47, one RPG
Launcher, one UBGL and other warlike stores was recovered. The house has been
sanitised and the situation is now under control. During the conduct of the operation,
three Security Forces personnel, including one officer and two Other Ranks, alongwith
two civilians were injured. The civilians were treated at GMC Anantnag and discharged
thereafter.
