Jammu, Aug 16: Police have arrested sister and her boy friend for murdering a 28-year-old youth in Rajouri district for “repeatedly questioning” their relation, police said.

Police had Wednesday last formed a Special Investigation Team to investigate into the “brutal murder” of the youth, Ankush Bakshi son of Bachan Lal, in Chakli area of Rajouri district Tuesday night.
Ankush was attacked with sharp edged weapons and died on the spot as a result of the injuries sustained, police had said.

Based on this, police said, a case (FIR No. 538/20210 under section 302 and 458 IPC was registered at police station Rajouri and investigation started.

“(The) Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by DySP Hq, Rajouri examined Technical data and witnesses,” a police spokesman said in a statement to GNS, adding, “Based on leads developed, suspects were identified and apprehended – namely, (1) Rajan Sharma, s/o Vijay Kumar, r/o Chingus (21 yrs); (2) (teenager) from Sangpur, age being verified – maybe juvenile, (3) Priya Bakshi, S/o Bachan Lal, r/o Chakli (21 yrs).”

Based on sustained questioning, the police said, it came to light that the accused Rajan and Priya (sister of the victim) were in a relationship, to which the deceased had objected repeatedly and “often forcefully.”

“Due to this, a criminal conspiracy was hatched by the above mentioned to eliminate the deceased, who put the criminal plan into action in the intervening night of August 10/11,” the police said.
