Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Kulgam; Contraband substances recovered

August 22: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Officers from Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam Shri Ghulam Muhamad Bhat-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Balsoo crossing and intercepted two suspicious persons carrying a bag. They have been identified as Sabzar Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ahsan Bhat resident of Tarigam and Adil Ah Lone son of Mohd Afzal Lone resident of Khanmoh. During checking, officers were able to recover 20 Kgs of Poppy Straw, 6 grams of Brown Sugar and a digital weighing scale from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 195/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kulgam and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
