DDC Kulgam reviews winter, flood preparedness

KULGAM, AUGUST 23: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today chaired a meeting of officers to review the arrangements put in place for winters in the district.

During the meeting threadbare discussion was held regarding availability of snow clearance machines, establishing of Joint Control Room and action plans prepared by the concerned departments to prevent interruption to services during harsh weather conditions.

The DDC impressed upon the officers to work in close coordination to deal effectively with situations and to ensure implementation of snow clearance plans effectively in the district.

The concerned officers from the Mechanical Engineering Department briefed the DDC about the action plan and availability of snow clearance machines in the district.

It was given out that 16 snow clearance machines are available in the district including two snow cutters.

Earlier, while reviewing the flood preparedness in the district the DDC directed the Executive Engineer of Irrigation and Flood Control, ACD, RDD to submit a plan of identified critical spots over river Veshow to take up these works under convergence mode.

He also enquired about availability of sand bags, equipment and machinery available in the district.

Later, the DDC reviewed the performance of the Rural Development Department and stressed to utilize the working season properly.

He instructed the concerned to expedite the estimation and tendering process of the rest of works.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, ACD, ACP, Ex. Engineer REW, BDOs and other concerned officers.
