Srinagar, 29 Aug 2020. As part of the nationwide commemoration of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, the Indian Army undertook an initiative to organize, the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Kashmir Premier League, 2021. The primary purpose of the event was youth engagement and to provide them a pedestal to showcase their cricketing talents. The popularity of cricket in Kashmir is a wellknown fact. This wide reaching, multi-phased cricket tournament involved 10 districts of Kashmir. Swarnim Vijay Varsh Kashmir Premier League 2021 commenced on 01 Jul 2021 and was held in three phases. Phase 1 was played between 01 to 15 July 2021, wherein youths from 10 districts – Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Shopian and Srinagar participated. Local boys from remote villages, towns and from diverse backgrounds, formed their distinct village and town cricket clubs and came together, to participate in the tournament. A total of 199 teams, with about 3000 players participated in the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Kashmir Premier League 2021. The second phase played from 28 July to 10 August 2021 witnessed 10 teams vying for a spot in the semifinals. Anantnag Achievers, Budgam Braves, Ganderbal Sarowars and Shahi Shopian, reached the semifinals, which were played on 23 & 24 August 2021 at DPS, Srinagar ground. The Final was played between Badgam Braves and Shahi Shopian at Sher-e-Kashmir stadium, Srinagar on Sunday, 29 August 2021. Badgam Braves won the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Kashmir Premier League 2021 in an emphatic manner. The individual prizes were given for best performer as batsmen to Asif Hussain & Feroze Ahmad, of Budgam Braves and Adil Kachroo of Shahi Shopian. Adil Kachroo of Shahi Shopian and Rouf Mir & Mudasir Abbas, from Budgam Braves, were awarded the prizes for best performers, amongst the bowlers. Former Indian Cricketer, Yusuf Pathan's presence in the final, saw a great response from his fans in Kashmir valley. He complimented the teams and the organisers for a well fought and conducted event. He appreciated the fact that 199 teams from all over Kashmir participated in the two month long competition, which showed the amount of efforts the organisers had put in the conduct of the event. The GOC, Chinar Corps complimented the players for a wonderful performance in the Final. He exhorted the youths to pick up sports and bring laurels for their villages and towns. The GOC emphasised upon the importance of discipline in life as sportspersons across the world exhibit. He expressed the hope to see the next Neeraj Chopra, to emerge from Kashmir. Several senior army, police & civil officials including Mr Pandurang K. Pole Div Commissioner, Mr Mohammad Aijaz, DC Srinagar, Mr Vijay Kumar, IGP attended the final. BCCI officials also attended and witnessed the final match. Scores & Winners – Final played between Shahi Shopian & Budgam Braves – Shahi Shopian won the toss & decided to bowl 1st – Budgam Braves made153/6 and won by 37 runs. – The prize winners were as follows: Man of the Match: Muddasir Abbas – Budgam Braves – cash prize Rs 5000/- Purple Cap Winner- Sohail Wani- 13 wickets – Shahi Shopian- Rs 20,000/- Orange Cap Winner-Adil Kachroo- 234 runs- Shahi Shopian- Rs 20,000/- Man of the Tournament- Adil Kachroo- Rs 30,000/- Runners Up- Shahi Shopian- Rs 75,000/- Cash Prize & Runners Up trophy Winners- Budgam Braves- Rs 1,00,000/- cash prize & championship trophy.

 Srinagar, Aug 29: A weeklong workshop on ‘Research Methodology’ organized by the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management concluded on Sunday at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

 Dr. Nufazil Altaf Ahangar was the convener of this workshop while as Dr. Tahir Ahmad Wani, Dr.Sumaira Jan and Dr.Mohd Rafiq Teli were the coordinators of the workshop.

On the occasion, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr) Rakesh Sehgal appreciated the department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management for organizing the workshop.

 He said such workshops are highly motivating and informative for the all-around development of research scholars and students.

Dr. Sehgal said all sessions of the workshop were an eye-opener for all participants and NIT Srinagar will be organizing such workshops in the future also so that students can get benefited from their initiatives.

Registrar NIT Prof. Kaiser Bukhari also appreciated the organizers and aid the main aim of these workshops is to update the research scholars with the latest trends in Research Methodologies.

Dean Research and Consultancy, Prof. G.A Harmain, and Head Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management Prof. Abdul Liman praised the efforts of coordinators of the workshop for conducting the successful workshop.

Over a hundred participants had registered and participated actively in the workshop. While resource persons from IIMs, NITs, and Christ University shared their experience and knowledge with the budding research scholars and students.

A formal vote of thanks for the concluding session was presented by Dr.Sumaira Jan. She thanked all distinguished speakers, resource persons, and participants for making the workshop a grand success.
