The Central Waqf Development Committee of the Ministry of Minority Affairs held its review meeting at New Delhi in which the review of developmental projects & schemes of Central Waqf Council of MoMA was held. “The Committee approved a newly incorporated nationwide Park Development Project under which seventy mega multipurpose Parks will be developed throughout India at prime Waqf sites with hundred percent Central Aid. The site-identification was also finalized during the meeting,” said Dr Darakhshan Andrabi while speaking to the media after the meeting. Briefing about the decision regarding the Park Development in first phase in Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that she held telephonic deliberations with J&K Waqf Board CEO Mufti Mohammad Farid-ud-din during the meeting session and communicated to him that two Parks will be developed in J&K in the first phase one in Kashmir Division & another in Jammu Division. “This project will on one hand create or develop the much needed Park infrastructure at these important Waqf managed sites/shrine locations and on the other hand it will add to the visitors attraction to the sites and help develop the sites as pilgrimage tourist destinations with proper attractive spaces,” said Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee. She said that the Park Development Project includes site-beautification, designer terracing & development, waste-management, fencing and utility facilitation for visitors etc keeping in view the land availability. She stressed upon the regional Waqf Boards to take up the projects of utility infrastructure at Waqf managed sites so that cleanliness is guaranteed at these places of reverence & pilgrims don’t face difficulty in basic amenities. In reply to a question Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that soon after the re-constitution of J&K Waqf Board, people of J&K will see a new glorious Waqf Management System free from all kinds of defective practices.
