Srinagar 30 September 2021. 3 J&K Bn NCC after successful conduct of Annual
Training Camp (ATC) at Machil and Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) at
Gurez recently, is conducting yet another CATC at Chamkote, Tangdhar, across
Shamshabari ridge. This Camp is being conducted under the aegis of NCC Group
Srinagar and ADG, NCC Dte Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh with support of Army
formation at Tangdhar. This is the first ever NCC Camp being organized in the
Karnah valley of Tangdhar. Directions of DG NCC to carry NCC to border villages of
Kashmir is seen being implemented in a very short time with force. The conduct of
this has been made possible by the Army formation at Tangdhar which has provided
the security, infrastructure & administrative assistance.
250 (Senior Division/Senior Wing/Junior Division/Junior Wing) NCC cadets
from Schools & Colleges of entire Kashmir valley and few schools/colleges of
Jammu are participating. Block Medical Officer Chowkibal was kind to conduct Rapid
Antigent Test of the entire staff & cadets which was coordinated by the local Army
unit at Chowkibal, Kupwara. Main objective of this camp is to continue the
confidence of conducting training in North Kashmir especially in border towns, to
unite the youth with main stream and ensure NCC is introduced in border towns and
villages.
Apart from imparting basic training, NCC cadets shall be selected to represent
Kashmir in the JK&L contingent during the Republic Day Camp 2022. During this
camp, the NCC cadets will be exposed to physical training to remain fit, Drill to instill
good bearing and turnout, weapon training. Cultural and social activities like Swach
Bharat Drive, traffic awareness, tree plantation and many more will also be
conducted.
Cadets will undertake adventure activities like trekking the adjacent heights of
Tangdhar, rock climbing, & visit border villages to impart social services to the
civilians. The cadets shall be visiting the famous model village of Tithwal too, which
has historic importance in the region. Inspirational lectures and talks by senior army
and civil officials and prominent citizens are also planned during the camp.
Meritorious cadets shall be awarded for various extra ordinary activities &
contributions made during the camp.
