INDIAN ARMY CELEBRATES JASHN-E-BARAMULLA

Srinagar, 10 Oct 2021. The Indian Army in association with Indrani Balan Group
organised a mega cultural event, Jashn-e-Baramulla at the Ecological Park on the
banks of river Jhelum in Baramulla. The musical fest was aimed at celebrating the
rich musical heritage of Baramulla and to promote local Kashmiri talent.
The event started with local singers taking the stage and entertaining the
audience with their performances. Kashmiri sensation Waqar Khan also enthralled
the audience with rendition of Kashmiri and Sufi songs. Javed Ali, Bollywood singer,
was the show stopper at the event. He belted numerous bollywood songs, much to
the delight of the audience. Pandit Rakesh Prasad Chaurasiya on flute, Padam Shri
Vijay Ghate on tabla and local artist Shri Nazir Ganai on rabab were highly
appreciated by the audience for their jugalbandi.
Lt Gen DP Pandey, GOC Chinar Corps, while addressing the gathering
brought out that, the aim of Jashn-e-Baramulla was to celebrate the rich musical
heritage of Kashmir valley and create an enabling environment for the local
musicians to reach wider audience through their songs. The GOC reiterated that the
Citizen-Army connect is based on trust and mutual respect and they would jointly
strive for a happy and progressive Kashmir.
Speaking to the media, Puneet Balan of Indrani Balan Foundation said,
"Kashmir is synonymous with heaven on Earth. Local music and talent in Kashmir is
not only refreshing but extraordinary. We have associated with the musicians and
singers of Kashmir in the past and would continue to support them in future”.
