Holds awareness program under BBBP

GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 11: To mark the celebrations of International Day of Girl Child, the District Legal Service Authority Ganderbal in collaboration with ICDS Ganderbal today organised  an awareness program under “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” (BBBP) scheme.

The program was attended by Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Tabasum, ICDS Program Officer, senior lawyers and other members of Bar Association Ganderbal, Asha workers, Anganwadi workers and students of various schools.

On the occasion speakers stressed on creating mass awareness about women rights in the society and empowering them with the education for the betterment of the society.

Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal expressed concern over the growing violence against women in the society and stressed on creating legal knowledge among women folk regarding their rights.

She said that everyone must ensure education and all other facilities to girl child for the progressive and developed society and said that every citizen must contribute for the gender equality and empowerment of the women by respecting women rights

ICDS, Program Officer while speaking on the occasion said that the purpose for celebrating the day is to focus on the need to address the challenges that girls face in society due to gender biases and to change the attitude of society towards girls.

 She also said that women are not lagging behind in any discipline or aspect of life, all they need is promotion and encouragement to be able to use their talent.

Later, meritorious students were felicitated who have excelled in studies and sports.
