Srinagar, 21 Oct 2021. Lachhipora Battalion of Himalayan Brigade under the aegis of Dagger Division conducted Exhibition Wheel Chair Basketball and Sitting Volleyball matches for Para Athletes at Army Goodwill School, Boniyar, Baramulla.
The initiative is first of its kind in Baramulla District, wherein Para Athletes from across Kashmir Valley participated and showcased their sporting talent. Theme of the event was “Promotion of Health, Rights & Social Integration for Para Athletes”.
Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), an NGO (est since1970) assisted in organising the event. The organisation has been promoting para athletes for the past 51 years.
Indian Army salutes and admires the indomitable will and enthusiasm of the participating para athletes, who have overcome their limitation through determination and showcased exceptional sporting talent during the event.
Event was also graced by SDM(Uri), DDC/ BDC Chairmans & delegations of Sports Council of India.
