Expressing concern over increasing incidents of ceasefire violations on the Line of Control, the J&K Peoples Movement (JKPM) on Wednesday asked for an end to border skirmishes between India and Pakistan.
In a press release JKPM Vice President Iqbal Tahir said people living along the LoC are distressed over the continued shelling from across the border, which has resulted in the loss of lives and property. “We express deep concern over increasing incidents of ceasefire violations on LoC,” Iqbal Tahir said.
He said that the repeated skirmishes at the LOC have sparked fear and panic among people. “These skirmishes also have a very adverse effect on the economic activities of the people, dwelling in border areas. The border residents feel being caught between the devil and the deep sea, as a result, they are unable to manage their household chores and their framing is badly impacted, ” he added.
He urged that the union government must not overlook the misery, pain and dislocation faced by people every time peace is shattered along the borders. Calling for an end to the border skirmishes, Iqbal Tahir urged the government to take effective steps to protect the lives and property of people living along the LOC.
