‘Muslims are now active participants in India’s growth story’

BJP National Executive Member & Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of Union Ministry of Minority Affairs Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today addressed a Press Conference at Bangalore today. Dr Andrabi is on a tour of Karnataka along with a delegation of Central Waqf Council in connection with inspection of Karnataka State. She inspected many shrines in the state during the second day of the tour today and later addressed a press Conference. Speaking to the media Dr Andrabi gave details about different minority welfare schemes and programmes initiated by the Ministry of Minority Affairs under the leadership of the Minister Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. She said that Prime Minister Shri Narinder Modi has shown us the way to uplift the minorities & backward classes in India economically, educationally & socially so that they are able to lead the mainstream developmental activity of the country. “Minorities in India have progressed during the Modi regime like never before. Without any hue & cry of theoretical secularism, this government at centre believes in practicality and has created a multi-pronged developmental system for minorities to get special benefits from government schemes which has resulted in a revolutionary change among minorities at the grass root level throughout the country,” said Dr Andrabi. She said that Congress and their allies only used minorities in India as their tool for seven decades and kept them economically, educationally & socially backward as compared to the rest of the people of India. “Modi led government has created an atmosphere where India is developing as an integrated whole without any appeasement or discrimination and this approach of the government has dawned as an ‘awakening’ among minorities in India and they are now active participants of the growth story of India” said Dr Darakhshan. Giving details about the shrines management in Karnataka, Dr Andrabi said that she was happy to see that Waqf records & management systems are being adhered to as per the guidelines of CWC and the digitization of records is happening at a fast speed. In reply to a question about lesser representation of Muslims in BJP, the BJP NEC member said that it is up to Muslim leadership to associate them with BJP so that the representation percentage enhances. “In BJP, only performance at ground level matters. Here we don’t serve representations on religious, caste and linguistic basis. Here work matters,” said Dr Darakhshan.
