VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE KALARUCH

Volleyball League Kalaruch for the year 2021 was organised from 10th to 13th Nov
2021 to foster sportsmanship and camaraderie among youth of Kupwara. The event
was organised by Indian Army at Govt Higher Sec School in Khumriyal, Kupwara.
The volleyball championship in which four local teams participated, aimed to bring
empowerment among youth and athletes. The tournament favourites were Lolab
Tigers and Ahanger Brothers. Kalaruch Volleyball club and Lashtiyal volleyball club
also gave a strong fight.
“It’s exciting to see a such a tournament, it gives the homegrown grown athletes a
platform to showcase their talent”, said Pir Zada Iqbal resident of Kalaruch, who had
come to support his local team.
After three days of exciting league matches Ahanger Brother emerged as group
leaders, and Lolab Tigers finishing in second place. Kalaruch Volleyball Club and
Lashtiyal Volleyball Club were eliminated, finishing third & fourth in the league table.
The grand Finale between Ahanger brothers Vs Lolab tigers proved to be nail biting
affair. After five closely contested sets, Lolab Tigers emerged as the winners and
were crowned volleyball champions of Kalaruch.
There were exciting prizes for all participating teams. The winners were awarded a
cash prize of Rs 5000/-, the runners up Rs 3000/- and a consolation prize of Rs 2000
each to the balance two teams. The two match referees were also felicitated with a
cash prize of Rs 1000/- each.
“This is a great effort from the Indian Army, where we have unified for the greater
good of our community to be able to provide an amazing platform for the youth to
express themselves”, said Gulab Mohammad Mir sarpanch of Khumriyal.
