As part of the outreach program and to mitigate the hardships faced by the residents of remote villages near the Line of Control a joint medical camp was conducted in Sudhi Kilshai village of Gulab Bowl in Gurez by the Indian Army and Sub District Hospital Dawar. 134 individuals hailing from all nine nearby villages were benefitted in this noble drive conducted by the joint team under the medical officer of the Indian Army and BMO Gurez Ms Tahira Begum.

The major ailments observed were of high BP and Back aches due to carriage of heavy loads for their sustenance. The villagers were given treatment and free medicines were distributed apart from medical advice by the team of doctors. The BMO also reviewed the PHC’s of the villages and promised to fulfil their requirements on urgent basis before the onset of winters.

Sudhi Kilshai village is approx 1km short of the LoC and 4 kms away from the road head. Basic facilities such as drinking water, electricity, road connectivity and medical cover are of serious concern here. Amidst all these challenges the out reach programs by the Army and civil administration are a ray of hope for approx 1500 people residing in these nine villages of the Gulab bowl.

This initiative has not only helped in mitigating the medical hardships of these cut off villages but has also given them an assurance that the Army and Civil Administration are working hand in hand for the development of Gurez.
