Illicit poppy crops destroyed in Shopian

SHOPIAN, JUNE 17: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Shopian Chaudhry Mohammad Yasin, a team comprising of officers from Revenue Department along with Excise and Taxation Department,  and police department destroyed illicit cannabis poppy crops spread over huge kanals of land across the district, here today.

DDC warned the cultivators against the cultivation of poppy and directed the concerned  to keep vigil on the poppy cultivation and take stern action, under the relevant laws against those found involved in the poppy cultivation.

While stressing for intensifying anti-poppy and bhang cultivation drive, he underlined need for inter-departmental coordination for carrying effective drive against the cultivators of illicit crops.
