J&K Anjuman Sharie Shian passed a resolution in its emergent meeting here on Sunday, stating that the organization in all its capacity and position will oppose the decision to open liquor shops in Kashmir. It was emphasized that JKANESS has opposed such things in the past and maintains the contention today too. Additionally, the Anjuman Sharie’s Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas added that It is not only about sentiments but a conspiracy against the social fabric of the region. Liquor consumption is visualized as evil by all religions and is banned in the Hindu-majority Indian states like Bihar Haryana and Gujarat
Aga said that it was unfortunate that the government was “patronising sale and use of liquor” in the Kashmir Valley, which he described as “alcove of Sufis and Saints”.

“Distance from liquor also form part of our syncretic value system”. Aga Mujtaba added
