KUPWARA, FEBRUARY 4: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang kondbarao pole (P.K. Pole) today visited border and snow bound areas of Karnah and Machill of district Kupwara.  He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din.
The Divisional Commissioner took detailed review of developmental scenario of these border areas and took stock of essential commodities, power supply and mitigation efforts of Covid-19 pandemic.
At Tangdar, the Divisional Commissioner convened separate meetings with PRIs, civil administration and army officers.
The DDC Member, Najma Hamid, BDC Chairpersons and PRIs put forth their local demands before the Divisional Commissioner with regard to construction of Sadhna Tunnel, posting of Gynecologist and staff at Kadhama Jabdi, establishment of bank branch at Gabra, Fire tenders, release of pending NREGA payment, construction of protection bunds of Nallah Batmoji, besides, augmentation of power supply, road widening, potable drinking water, healthcare facilities and other local demands.
The Divisional Commissioner heard them patiently and discussed the issues raised in the meeting, with the Deputy Commissioner and the local administration.
The Divisional Commissioner gave onspot directions to the officers for time-bound resolution of the demands, so that the people living in these areas get benefited.
The Divisional Commissioner said that the objective of his visit to these border areas was to personally assess the requirements of the border people and to guide the administration for further improvement of the facilities especially during these winter months.
Addressing the officers, the Divisional Commissioner stressed the need for remaining available for public in their respective offices so that the people do not face any difficulty.
Referring the demand for construction of Sadhna tunnel, the Divisional Commissioner said that the tunnel will be constructed as per the central government proposal but before that the widening of the road from Kupwara to Tangdar is the first priority of the government, which has been approved  and the land acquisition is in progress.He said augmentation of road connectivity for all the border areas of the district including Karnah, Keran and Machill is the priority of the UT Government.
Reviewing the stock and supply position, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that sufficient stock of rice and other essential commodities has already been dumped which is sufficient and will cater the requirement of border people till June this year.
The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and the SDM Karnah briefed the Divisional Commissioner about the developmental profile of the Karnah sub division, situated 190 Kms from capital city Srinagar. The Divisional Commissioner was informed that the Oxygen generating plant established by District administration has been made operational in the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Tangdar to meet any eventuality amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The plant has capacity of generating 500 litre oxygen per minute.
The Divisional Commissioner also had a separate meeting with senior Army officers which was also attended by Deputy Commissioner and SDM and got the feedback regarding the overall situation and developmental scenario.
The Divisional Commissioner was informed that the power supply needs to be augmented in the area.
Later the Divisional Commissioner accompanied by DC Kupwara visited snow bound and border area Machill.
The Divisional Commissioner reviewed the developmental scenario of the border area with PRIs and local administration.
