Civil Society expresses shock over negligence
Pulwama, July 05: In a bizarre series of events preceding and following the testing positive of a senior doctor of DH Pulwama for COVID-19 , the Medical Superintendent seems to have violated all the SOPs related to the management of COVID-19 positive patients and immediate quarantine of their contacts.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a senior doctor from DH Pulwama tested Covid-19 positive on July 2, and despite containing him as per Covid-19 protocol, authorities have left him to roam freely.
Sources told that the doctor despite having COVID-19 symptoms and clear radiological findings was seen roaming in the hospital and frequently visited Administrative block and office of the Medical Superintendent (MS).
Initial reports suggest that a doctor from the same hospital maneuvered the meeting of Covid-19 positive doctor with his family in the isolation ward of the District Hospital flouting the SOPs and violating the orders of the Administration in this regard.
Sources said that the quarantining of the contacts has been selective as only few contacts have been quarantined, whereas the MS of the district hospital was responsible for the same.
Meanwhile Civil society Pulwama has requested the District Magistrate to institute an enquiry into the matter. An aged member of the Civil Society expressed shock over this negligence and asked why there are two set of guidelines for ordinary people and those who are influential. (KNS)
