Weather to improve from Friday onward: Officials’

Srinagar, March 02: The Meteorological Department Tuesday stated that the erratic weather will continue till March 3rd and overall improvement in prevailing weather conditions is expected from Friday onward, officials said.
Director MeT, Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir, “Rains lashed plains and upper reaches of Valley on Tuesday, and this (erratic weather) will continue till Thursday. After that we are expecting improvement in prevailing weather conditions.”
Lotus said owing to cloudy weather, the night temperatures improved significantly in the Valley from the past two days. Srinagar recorded 1.9 degrees Celsius on Monday night, Pahalgam settled at a low of minus 0.3 degrees Celsius.
 Gulmarg in north Kashmir settled at minus 4.5 degrees Celsius and was the coldest place in Valley, Qazigund recorded 1.2 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara, settled at 3.3 degrees Celsius.
As per the advisory issued by traffic police headquarters for Wednesday, subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs(Passenger)/private cars shall be allowed from both sides on the Srinagar Jammu highway.  TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic, it said.
The advisory further mentions that HMVs shall be allowed from Jakhani (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after assessing the traffic situation on NHW.  TCU Udhampur shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the HMVs, it said.
