DDC Rajouri discusses proposal for augmentation of Drug de addiction centre GMC&AH

RAJOURI, MARCH 08: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting of the concerned officers to discuss and finalize the proposal for augmentation of services at the Drug de addiction centre of the Government Medical College & Associated Hospital.

Officers who attended the meeting included CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; ACD, Vijay Kumar; ACP, Abdul Rashid Kohli; MS DH, Dr Mehmood; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; DO NRLM, Javed Ul Sofi; Administrator OSC, Nitu Sharma and other concerned officers

At the outset, the meeting was informed that a ten bedded drug de addiction centre is already functional in the GMC&AH on OPD basis and is currently being run by District Administration and Health Authorities.

The DC constituted a Committee comprising DSWO, ExEn PWD and MS DH to assess and report whether the existing set up of de-addiction centre GMC&AH could be run on IPD basis with the augmentation of infrastructure. The Committee will submit the report in one week.

Addressing the meeting, the DC said that the District Administration is working on a multi-pronged strategy to provide every possible support to youth to stand on their own and live a respectful life in the society.

He also asked the concerned stakeholders to make all possible efforts to curb the menace of drug abuse in the district and keep the youth on the right track.

The DC also directed the concerned to monitor all aspects of drug abuse prevention which include assessment of the extent of the problem, preventive action, dissemination of information and public awareness.

He also sought public cooperation to make Rajouri a drugs free district.
