Srinagar, April 01: The traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway remained suspended for 6th days, while the metrological department has predicted improvement in weather from Thursday.A senior official at traffic department told JKNS highway remained blocked due to fresh landslides and shooting stones at Dalwas, Monkey Morh and other several places along the highway.The official said at Dalwas area, the major portion of the road has damaged and it would take authorities more time to repair the road. While at other places both men and machinery are on the job to clear the debris.“No fresh traffic would be allowed to move towards Jammu in view of road condition and weather prediction,” he added.He said about 1300 vehicles carrying essential commodities from Jammu are stranded in Ramban side while 700 empty trucks are stranded from the Qazigund side.Hundreds of truckers stranded on the national highway are facing a lot of problems due to the failure of authorities to restore the highway. They appealed authorities to look into the matter.Last week, the highway was closed for traffic following landslides and shooting stones at several places.Meanwhile, the weatherman predicted improvement in weather from Thursday onwards. “Due to western disturbances, Jammu and Kashmir received fresh rainfall in plains while light snow in higher reaches on Wednesday,” the official said.
