DDC Ganderbal lays foundation stone for playground at Yangroo

GANDERBAL AUGUST 04: District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today laid foundation stone for the development of a playground at panchayat Yangoora-A, Wakura, Ganderbal in presence of BDC chairperson Wakura, Ghulam Ahmad Malla.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACD Ganderbal, Bilal Mukhtar, Tehsildar Lar and other officials were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that District Administration is committed to provide better sports infrastructure at Panchayat level so that the youth are able to polish their sports skills and are able to perform better in competitions. In this regard play fields are developed in every Panchayat of the district for the youth to practice and take part in sports activities.

He said initiatives are being taken up with the objective to provide basic sports infrastructure within the district to explore the hidden talent of youth in the sports field.

The playground at Yangoo-A will be developed by the Rural Development Department under MGNREGA at the cost of Rs 4.99 lakh.

The DDC urged upon the RDD to develop the ground within the stipulated time frame and asked the ACD to expedite the progress of work on other play grounds of the district which are at different stages of development and ensure that playgrounds are available in every Panchayat of the district.

On the occasion the DDC also interacted with the locals who complimented the District Administration for fulfilling the long pending demand. He said that youngsters must be encouraged in their area of interests and in which parents and elders can play a pivotal role to motivate and mould notable sportsmen.
