*Financially empowered women invest high on health, education of their wards: Dr Samoon*

*Inaugurates “Entrepreneurship as a Viable Career Option for Girls” Webinar*

>>> Principal Secretary School Education and Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today said empowered women tend to invest a high amount of their income into their children’s health and education which helps towards building a healthier and educated society.

He was speaking to a gathering after inaugurating a webinar on the topic, “Entrepreneurship as a Viable Career Option for Girls”, organized by Government Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar in collaboration with the J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI).

Principal Secretary emphasized the officials to design more schemes and courses for attracting and encouraging aspiring women entrepreneurs to excel not only at the local level but at the international level.

“It is important to promote a culture of women entrepreneurship in J&K for empowering half of the population and most importantly give them a hope that they can do something on their own,” he said. “Successful women will provide encouragement to attract more women to the field and show them the way for common good of their community.”

Dr Samoon said it gives hope and satisfaction to listen to the young women entrepreneurs who have excelled in their field. “Women entrepreneurship can lead to a tremendous social change, making them financially empowered and independent,” he emphasized.

Director, J&K Skill Development, Director J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute & Principal, Government Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar also participated in the Webinar.

The speakers, including Dr. Naila Khanday, Head, Centre for Women Entrepreneurship JKEDI, Amir Shafiq, Communication Associate & Majid Parvaiz, Associate Faculty JKEDI, highlighted various issues encountered in embarking the journey of entrepreneurship, various financial assistance schemes offered by JKEDI and emphasized on self- motivation of the students as a key towards success in starting new ventures.

The webinar was interactive with some motivational talks by successful entrepreneurs besides there were also some queries which were addressed by JKEDI.

The webinar ended with vote of thanks by Principal, Government Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar, with a resolve to take up women entrepreneurship vigorously in future in collaboration with Center for Women, Entrepreneurship, JKEDI.
