Jammu and Kashmir Police Friday said to have arrested a notorious timber smuggler, on the run for a long time, in Handwara.
“Based on human and technical input, a notorious/habitual timber smuggler by the Mohd Ashraf Chechi son of Lal Din Chechi of Shiltra Qalamabad was arrested by SHO PS Qalamabad who has been evading his arrest since March 2023”.
“Pertinently, a PSA warrant was issued by DM Kupwara on March 03, 2023 against him as he is known for orchestrating a network of illegal timber trade”, reads the statement further. (GNS)
