Poonch, Dec 21, : At least 3 soldiers sustained injuries when militants fired upon a vehicle on the way from the Bufliaz area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir where a cordon-and-search operation against militants has been in progress since Wednesday.
Official sources told that combined forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the Sarankote area of Poonch yesterday following inputs about the movement of militants.
They said that a vehicle was coming from Bufliaz when militants fired upon it near the Savni area on the Thanamandi-Surankote road. They said that there was an exchange of fire in which 3 soldiers sustained injuries and were all hospitalized.
Official sources further added that a cordon and search operation is underway and contact with hiding militants has been established. They added that after the initial exchange of fire, there is calm but the operation is underway. [KNT]
