Government Degree College Thannamandi hosted a one-day workshop on Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) titled ‘My Vote My Right. in Collaboration with the District Election Officer and the Department of Political Science, the workshop aimed to enlighten students about the significance of their participation in the electoral process.
The event, held at GDC Thannamandi, in which Prof (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, the Principal of the college, graced the occasion as the chief guest and the event has witnessed a significant turnout of students who actively participated in discussions and activities aimed at deepening their understanding of electoral processes and civic responsibilities. The workshop underscored the pivotal role that young voters play in shaping the future of the nation through active engagement in elections.
Prof (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, the Principal of the college delivered an insightful speech on the significance of the SVEEP program and emphasized the importance of voters and their votes in the democratic process. Dr. Nusrat Farooq, Head of the Department of Political Science, who was invited as resource person on the occasion delivered a lecture on importance of Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, elucidating its functions and significance in democratic processes.
Dr. Naseem Ahmed, HOD Chemistry and the Nodal Officer of the SVEEP Cell, led the program, ensuring its smooth execution and impactful delivery also expounded upon the intricacies of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs), shedding light on their operational mechanisms.
