JAMMU, APRIL 6: Relief and Rehabilitation department today organized a mega special awareness camp for Kashmiri Migrants, as part of the campaign launched across the UT of J&K in the wake of upcoming elections to Lok Sabha.
On the occasion, various deputations of Kashmiri Migrants interacted with Commissioner, Relief and Rehabilitation (M), Dr. Arvind Karwani, and raised their issues and concerns seeking expeditious redressal of the same.
They projected the issues concerning M-Form and requested for simplification of the process of casting of votes in the special polling stations. They also urged for simplifying the distribution exercise of ration slips and ration.
Some of the deputations demanded an option of cash assistance in lieu of ration to the relief holders besides distribution of ration for entire year in a single go, to avoid repeated visits. They also requested for devising an effective mechanism of ration distribution for the elderly, sick and single soul relief category migrants, for whom visiting the Zones/ Ration Depots is a very cumbersome process.
Dr Karwani, while responding to the demands of the deputationists, assured them that all their concerns would be taken care of for speedy redressal. He assured that instructions stand issued to all the Zonal Officers, Camp Commandants and Tehsildars to ensure hassle free and timely distribution of ration slips/booklets among all relief holders, through their family members or authorized person, in case the head of family is not able to attend in person. he said that the Zonal Officers/Camp Commandants have been asked to personally ensure that ailing and elderly relief holders are facilitated, and where ever required, visit their place of residence to facilitate distribution of ration slips/ration
Further, the Zonal Officers/Camp Commandants/Tehsildars, have been instructed to remain available on fixed dates in the Zone/Camp every month in consultation with the officers/officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, to facilitate verification of ration slips and distribution of ration among the relief holders. They have also been directed to ensure publicity of the list of all CAPD ration depots with all requisite details, which has already been uploaded on the website of www.jkmigrants.nic.in., in the respective zone/camp besides prominently displaying the same in all offices of Relief Organisation.
The Commissioner appealed all the registered voters to exercise their Right to Vote to strengthen the spirit of democracy. He emphasised upon all the Zonal Officers/Camp Commandants to facilitate distribution, filling and receipt M-Form.
Dr. Karwani emphasized upon the Migrants to visit the website for latest updates regarding the General Elections as well as other issues, and avail the services of special grievance redressal weekly camps for redressal of their grievances at door step.
The schedule for these special camps has already been notified and uploaded on the website, he added.
