DC Kupwara reviews progress of ABPS under MGNREGA

Kupwara, April 18: The District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of Officers of, Rural Development Department (RDD) and heads of different Banks operating in the district to review the progress of ABPS( Aadhaar-based Payment System) under MGNREGA.

While reviewing the performance indicators of ABPS/NPCI mapping under MGNREGA, the District Development Commissioner asked all the concerned officers to gear up their efforts to achieve the projected targets, so that the objective of the scheme is achieved.

Evaluating the ABPS mapping issues, Ms. Ayushi Sudan directed Branch Heads of banks to facilitate the process so that 100 % progress under ABPS/ NACH is achieved under MGNREGA.

She directed the BDOs to ensure all requisite documents are sent to banks.

Earlier, the Assistant Commissioner Development Kupwara, Muzaffar Ahmad Sheikh while apprising the chair said that out of total 1,57000 MGNREGA Job card holders, , the Aadhar authentication of 99.8% job card holders, has been done. NCPL/ABPS mapping of 88% has been completed while as NCPL/ABPS mapping of 18,500 job cards of the district are pending.

Meeting was attended by LDM, Mehboob Illahi Khan, Cluster Head Kupwara, Mehboob Shadab, BDOs of the district and other concerned.

Pertinently, APBS is helping the genuine beneficiaries to get their due payment and is instrumental in weeding out fake beneficiaries. Mahatma Gandhi NREGS has opted for Aadhaar Based Payment Bridge system.
