Kulgam, June 24: Kulgam Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A Police party of Police Station Qazigund established a checkpoint at Shampora Crossing near NHW. During checking one vehicle (Alto Car-800) bearing registration number JK03L-5348 was intercepted for checking and after search, 3.2 Kgs of Poppy Straw and digital weighing machine were recovered. The said person (driver) identified as Bilal Ahmad Reshi son of Mohd Abdullah Reshi resident of Danew Nagnaran, Anantnag was arrested on spot and also the vehicle used in commission of crime has been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 174/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
