Anantnag, Jun 29: In a significant advancement for women’s healthcare, a colposcope has been installed at the MCH Hospital, an associated hospital of GMC Anantnag. This essential equipment, used for diagnosing and monitoring abnormal cervical cancer screening results from PAP smears or liquid-based cervical cytology, is expected to greatly enhance patient management.
Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal of GMC Anantnag, inaugurated the high-end equipment in the presence of faculty members of MCH Hospital and Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr. Shahid Ahmad. She congratulated the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics for acquiring this latest and advanced equipment. She remarked, “This state-of-the-art equipment will significantly improve our cervical cancer screening capabilities. It is a substantial step forward in our ongoing efforts to provide the best possible care to our patients and will undoubtedly contribute to better health outcomes.”
Dr. Syed Nawaz, Head of the Department of Gynecology emphasized the importance of this installation, stating, “The colposcope will play a crucial role in managing patients by providing accurate and detailed imaging, which is vital for the early detection and treatment of cervical cancer.”
The Deputy Medical Superintendent highlighted the importance of this development in advancing the hospital’s diagnostic and treatment capabilities. This is the first such high-end colposcope in the new medical colleges and particularly in South Kashmir. It is pertinent to mention that GMC Anantnag caters to more than 4 million people across the districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam in Kashmir division, as well as the districts of Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar in Jammu division.
