Srinagar, July 10: Police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Sopore & Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Warpora headed by IC PP Warpora under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, at a checkpoint established at Dangerpora-Saidpora Byepass near Poultry Farm, apprehended a suspecious person identified as Feroz Ahmad Kaboo son of Khazir Mohammad Kaboo resident of Kralteng Sopore. During search, Police party was able to recover 86 grams of Charas from his possession.
Meanwhile in Kulgam, a Police party of Police Post Neehama at a checkpoint established at Samnoo, noticed 2 suspicious persons carrying nylon bags who on seeing the Police party tried to flee from the spot. They were chased by the alert police party and one person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Naik son of Ghulam Nabi Naik resident of Rambhama was apprehended while as another person left his nylon bag and thereof taking advantage of dense orchards managed to flee from the spot. During questioning, apprehended person disclosed the name of escaped person as Anil Khurshid son of Khurshid Ahmad Bhat resident of Rambhama. During search, 10.6 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the said nylon bags.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations & investigations have been initiated.
General public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
