Jammu: To prevent spread of coronavirus infection, two major markets (mandies) of Jammu have been shut for two days for sanitisation. As per officials, during these two days, santisation drive will be launched by Jammu Municipal Corporation.
The largest wholesale market located at Ware House and Fruit/Vegetable market at Narwal will remain closed on Sunday and Monday, they said and added, ”the decision to keep these two major markets shut was taken on Saturday night in a meeting of Traders Federation of Ware House and Narwal.”
They said that the traders in a meeting claimed that the supply of essential goods has been completed in parts of the region for next few days following which it was decided to get the venues sanitised.
”Sanitisation was must in these mandies because many labourers are working here and people are also visiting to purchase goods,” said a trader adding that on Sunday, the market remains closed and on Monday also it is decided to keep it shut as sanitisation process has begun this afternoon.
”JMC has started spraying disinfectants and sanitising the whole market to prevent spread of infection and from Tuesday, supply of goods to retailers and parts of region will again start,” he added.
