Srinagar, 13 Aug (NewsEye): A shocking incident occurred in the heart of Srinagar when a drunk driver lost control of their vehicle, causing widespread destruction and chaos from Khanyar to Sangarmall city centre.

The driver, who was under the influence of alcohol, damaged dozens of vehicles, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. The incident has resulted in multiple injuries, with several people being rushed to nearby hospital for treatment. The driver was eventually arrested by the police station Khanyar.

“The driver of a Hyundai Creta, who was heavily intoxicated, caused extensive damage to multiple vehicles on the road and injured several people. He also hit CRPF personnel who attempted to stop him. Despite their efforts, he continued to drive recklessly, putting many lives at risk. He was eventually apprehended near Sangarmall. We have taken him into custody, and an investigation is underway.” said a police official.

According to an eyewitnesses, “The car swerving all over the road, hitting vehicles one after another. It was like a scene of a movie. The driver was clearly intoxicated and had no control over the vehicle. Police and locals were chasing to catch him.”

The incident has heightened concerns about road safety and underscored the need for stricter measures to prevent drunk driving, especially as new alcohol shops continue to open in the valley.
