Anantnag, Aug 22: A devastating fire broke out this evening at a residential-cum-commercial building in the City Chowk area of Anantnag, resulting in the complete destruction of a triple-storey residential house, nine shops, and two godowns.
Accoding to officials from the fire and emergency services department, the incident was reported at approximately 7:14 PM. Swiftly responding to the emergency, multiple firefighting units were dispatched to the scene. Despite their best efforts, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing the entire building within a short period.
Additional firefighting units from Mattan and Achabal were called in to assist with the containment of the blaze. After several hours of intense firefighting operations, the fire was eventually brought under control. Thankfully, no casualties or injuries were reported.
The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation by local authorities
