Mendhar/poonch, Aug 30: In a significant discovery, Army troops on Friday recovered a landmine along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. According to officials, the landmine was found by an Army patrol party in the Pattri Gali area during a routine patrol along the LoC.
The patrol party immediately secured the area and summoned the bomb disposal squad to destroy the mine. Officials revealed that the landmine had drifted from its original position due to heavy rains and ended up on the patrol track.
The timely detection and disposal of the landmine prevented any potential harm to Army personnel and civilians in the area. The incident highlights the constant vigilance and alertness required along the LoC, where security forces face numerous challenges, including harsh terrain and unpredictable weather conditions.
The recovery of the landmine also underscores the importance of coordination between Army units and bomb disposal experts in ensuring the safety of troops and civilians. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing security challenges in the region and the need for continued vigilance along the LoC.
