Ganderbal, Sept 16, : In a significant move to preserve the natural beauty of Sonamarg, the Wildlife Department demolished an illegal structure at the tourist hub in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Acting on earlier reports of rampant illegal constructions in the area, Range Officer Mukhtar Ahmed led the demolition drive, sending a strong message to land grabbers.
“The department’s swift action aims to protect Sonamarg’s fragile ecosystem and maintain its picturesque appeal for tourists,” said an official to the news agency Kashmir News Trust.
“We will take stern action against those violating laws and encroaching on protected land,” Range Officer warned. [KNT]
