Hyderabad: Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy accused the Congress and BRS leaders of tarnishing political discourse through personal attacks and baseless allegations.
Speaking at a state-level BJP workshop at Vedha Convention Center, Bongulur, outskirts of the city on Monday, Reddy criticized the ruling Congress in Telangana for failing to fulfill its promises and questioned the legitimacy of its campaign efforts in other states.
Reddy alleged that the Congress government has been misrepresenting facts about its governance in Telangana. “The Congress party is running advertisements in Maharashtra claiming to have implemented guarantees in Telangana, but on the ground, nothing has been delivered. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is campaigning without any credibility,” he said.
Responding to allegations that he is “a slave of Gujarat,” Reddy stated, “I am not a slave to anyone. I am a servant of the people of India. If being connected to Gujarat—the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi—is called slavery, I wear it with pride. I will not bow to the so-called Gandhi family or their divisive politics.”
Reddy accused the Congress of running the state like an ATM for its high command. “The Congress and previously the KCR family have turned Telangana into a tool for personal gain. The Congress government has formed a special task force, not to improve the state’s condition, but to accumulate debts and extract commissions through tenders awarded to their close associates,” he claimed.
Highlighting BJP’s efforts, Reddy outlined the central government’s initiatives, including the PM-KISAN scheme, free ration distribution, rural road development under the Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana, and funds for gram panchayats and basti hospitals. He asserted that these schemes are being implemented without bias or negligence.
Reddy criticized Congress-ruled states, including Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana, for their financial mismanagement. “These states have gone bankrupt due to Congress’s reckless governance,” he said.
He urged BJP workers to focus on strengthening grassroots structures, including polling booth committees, ahead of the upcoming local body and MLC elections. The BJP has reportedly completed a membership drive of 35 lakh members in Telangana and aims to establish Mandal and district-level organizational structures by November.
Reddy called for constructive politics and emphasized the BJP’s responsibility to serve as an alternative force in Telangana. “The people of Telangana deserve better governance. For the next four years, BJP will lead democratic movements against the failures of Congress and BRS to ensure accountability and progress,” he said.
The Union Minister announced that the party has completed a membership drive enrolling approximately 35 lakh members in the state, with the effort still ongoing.
The BJP is focusing on completing polling booth committees by the end of November to strengthen its grassroots structure. Party leaders have been directed to release polling booth lists in their respective districts, verify voter lists, and organize elections with the permission of Mandal returning officers.
As part of its organizational strategy, the BJP plans to hold Mandal-level workshops, elect Mandal Presidents and executive members, and subsequently conduct district-level elections. The dates for these elections will be announced after an organizational meeting in Delhi.
Reddy emphasized that these elections should ensure representation from all sections of society, including SCs, STs, and women. He also urged party workers to complete active membership registration at the Mandal level, with incentives for those who enroll 100 active members per division.
Looking ahead, Reddy expressed confidence in the BJP emerging as a strong alternative force in Telangana, with preparations underway for the upcoming local body elections.
