PUNE: General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), today visited the Khelo India Sports Hostel and the Army Girls Sports Company at the Army Sports Institute (ASI) in Pune. These state-of-the-art facilities are part of a strategic collaboration between the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Indian Army, designed to provide world-class infrastructure for male and female sportspersons training at the ASI and under the Khelo India initiative.

Inaugurated a few months back, the Khelo India Sports Hostel boasts a capacity of 300 beds, ensuring that athletes – both male and female – have equal access to exceptional training resources to nurture their sporting potential. The facility serves as a cornerstone in the mission to develop elite sports talent in India.

During his visit, General Dwivedi was briefed on the layout and operations of the facilities, receiving an overview of the infrastructure and training programs offered. The COAS also took the opportunity to interact with the elite sportspersons of the Army Sports Institute, as well as the cadets of the Army Girls Sports Company, offering them encouragement and support in their pursuit of excellence.

The Khelo India Sports Hostel and the Army Girls Sports Company represent a significant step in fostering sporting talent in the country, aligning with the vision to provide top-tier facilities to athletes and empower the next generation of champions.
