Security forces intensify vigil along LoC to foil infiltration attempts by militants: BSF IG

Srinagar: Inspector General of BSF, Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav on Saturday said that security forces have stepped up efforts along the Line of Control (LoC) to thwart infiltration attempts by militants before snowfall blocks the mountain passes.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of BSF’s Raising Day celebrations at Humhama here, the IG highlighted the coordinated strategies being implemented with the Army and intelligence agencies to maintain peace in the region.

“Before winter, infiltration attempts increase, and we plan meticulously with the Army to secure vulnerable gaps along the LoC. We dominate these areas through detailed planning and active operations,” the seniormost BSF officer in Kashmir said.

He said intelligence inputs suggest that terrorists continue to remain at launching pads across the border, waiting for opportunities to infiltrate and disrupt the region’s peace.

“We receive inputs from various intelligence agencies, analyze them thoroughly, and dominate the areas along the LoC to spot any infiltration attempts. We are confident in our ability to counter such threats,” Yadav said.

The BSF IG also acknowledged that militants are adopting new tactics and have reduced communication to create intelligence gaps, which pose big challenges for security forces.

“The terrorists also try to strengthen their security protocol. They communicate very minimally and try to create gaps in intelligence. So all the agencies try to analyze the bits and pieces we get. And we try to identify their hideouts and supporters so that we can catch them,” he said.

To address these evolving challenges, the officer revealed that new counter-strategies are being devised.

“All the security and intelligence agencies are brainstorming. We are trying to counter new challenges,” the IG said.

When asked about the situation in Pakistan, Yadav said it has definitely an impact on this side.

“But I can’t comment broadly on that. However, I can say that it is the job of the intelligence agencies,” he said.
