Srinagar: The Border Security Force (BSF) Kashmir Frontier celebrated the elite paramilitary force’s 60th Raising Day by organising a series of events across the Valley on Sunday.
Over the years, the BSF has established itself as an elite force, excelling in border management, counter-insurgency roles, internal law and order duties and anti-Naxal operations in the country.
The BSF, India’s premier border guarding force, was raised on December 1, 1965, with the primary responsibility of safeguarding the International Border.
The force has consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to maintaining the sanctity and integrity of India’s borders and contributing towards national security.
Currently, the BSF is responsible for guarding India’s international borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh while also being deployed on internal security duties.
The force boasts of a unique distinction, with its own Air Wing, Water Wing, and Artillery Regiment.
To commemorate this milestone, a series of events were organised across BSF deployments in the Kashmir Valley, including public outreach programmes, medical camps, rallies and cultural events.
These initiatives aimed to foster greater connectivity with the local population and promote a sense of community.
A cultural programme and Barakhana were organised for BSF veterans, jawans and their families.
Satish S. Khandare, ADG (Western Command) Chandigarh along with Ashok Yadav IG, BSF Kashmir Frontier and other officers of the Frontier, STC and CH celebrated the occasion with Jawans and their families.
The BSF Raising Day celebrations were marked with great enthusiasm and zeal across all ranks at the Frontier Headquarters, BSF Kashmir. UNI
