Sacramento: California Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday declared a state of emergency in the state after it was shaken by an earthquake.
On Thursday, a tsunami warning was issued in the US after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of California. No injuries or casualties have been reported so far.
“I just approved a state of emergency to allow more resources to go where needed for emergency response to this morning’s 7.0 magnitude earthquake. We’re working quickly to keep Californians safe and informed,” Newsom said on X.
Earlier, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) canceled a tsunami threat issued after the earthquake off the California coast.
