Jammu: The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir observed Armed Forces Flag Day with solemnity and gratitude.
At Raj Bhavan, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha marked the occasion by contributing to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund and highlighting the bravery and sacrifices of soldiers, sailors, and airmen who serve the nation with unwavering dedication.
An Armed Forces flag was ceremonially pinned on the Lieutenant Governor, who expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the commitment of the Armed Forces. “The Armed Forces have always been at the forefront, serving the nation with dedication and stepping in during natural calamities,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also lauded the Army’s pivotal role in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in combating terrorism and ensuring safety for people living in border areas and remote regions of the Union Territory. “With the immense contribution of our armed forces, Jammu and Kashmir is on a historic path of socio-economic growth, ensuring that development reaches every corner of the UT,” he noted.
He called upon privileged sections of society to donate generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund as a gesture of gratitude and remembrance. “I extend my best wishes to all serving and retired Armed Forces personnel and their families on this significant occasion,” he added.
Brig. Gurmeet Singh Shan (Retd.), Director of the Sainik Welfare Department, briefed the Lieutenant Governor on various initiatives for the welfare of veterans, Veer Naris, dependents, and serving personnel. The event was attended by several retired officers and veterans, including Col BS Sambyal (Retd.), Col SS Assla (Retd.), and Wg Cdr Tirath Singh (Retd.), among others.
The Armed Forces Flag Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and underscores the importance of supporting those who defend the nation.—(JKNS)
