Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today marked International Anti-Corruption Day 2024 with a series of events across the Union Territory.

Observed annually on December 9, the day underscores the global need to combat corruption through collective action. This year’s theme, “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” focused on engaging young minds in anti-corruption initiatives.

As per the details collected by the news agency JKNS, the ACB organized programs in educational institutions across J&K, including debates, awareness sessions, and film screenings.

The details read that the key highlights of the day included the main event held at SP College, Srinagar, where SSP ACB Srinagar, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Wani, presided. In addition, programs were conducted at the Central University of Kashmir and various government degree colleges in Khansahab, Beerwah, Ganderbal, and Women’s College Srinagar. Students actively participated in debates and discussions, with commendation certificates and mementos awarded to outstanding contributors.

In South Kashmir, events were organized at degree colleges in Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, and Shopian. Debate competitions saw enthusiastic participation, with commendation certificates presented to participants.

In North Kashmir, the ACB held awareness programs at colleges in Bandipora, Handwara, Sopore, Kupwara, and Baramulla. Students delivered impactful speeches on anti-corruption themes, and a short documentary by ACB was screened to reinforce the message.

Similarly, in the Jammu region, events spanned colleges in Kathua, Samba, Jammu, R.S. Pura, and Akhnoor, focusing on the role of technology in combating corruption. Debate winners were felicitated with certificates and books, while all participants received recognition for their efforts.

Meanwhile, in other regions like Rajouri and Poonch, debates explored the role of technology in anti-corruption initiatives. Similarly, in Doda, Kishtwar, and Banihal, students debated corruption’s impact on social and economic progress. Prizes and certificates were distributed to encourage youth engagement.
