Qazigund: In a strong stance against traffic violations, Traffic Police Kulgam, led by DySP Traffic Rural Mohammad Aslam, has vowed to enforce stricter penalties for offenders. A series of surprise checks, conducted alongside a dedicated team of officers, has already led to numerous fines and vehicle impoundments in the past week.

The crackdown, launched from last coupleof month’s, aims to reduce traffic-related accidents and ensure safer roads for commuters. “We are committed to making the roads safer for everyone, and this initiative will continue until we see a significant reduction in violations,” said DySP Traffic, who was seen personally overseeing the operations.

The operation focuses on high-traffic areas known for frequent violations, such as speeding, driving under the influence, illegal parking, and use of mobile phones while driving. The team has also been cracking down on two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets and other common infractions.

The Traffic Police have also emphasized increased vigilance during peak hours, when traffic congestion is at its highest. With a growing number of vehicles on the roads, officials warn that violators will face tougher penalties, including fines, license suspensions, and impoundments for repeat offenders.

“Citizens must understand the serious risks that traffic violations pose, not only to themselves but to everyone around them. We will not tolerate irresponsible behavior behind the wheel,” stated DySP. .

Residents are urged to follow traffic rules and report any dangerous driving practices through the official Traffic Police helpline. Authorities hope the initiative will encourage safer driving habits across the Kulgam district.
