New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party as an “aapda”, saying this “aapda” has taken the National Capital in its grip in the past 10 years.

Addressing people after launching a slew of infra projects in the National Capital, including in housing and education sectors, Modi hit out at the Delhi government saying the situation in Delhi would worsen if this government continued.

“The Centre is making a lot of efforts; on the other hand the Union Territory government stands for brazen lies” he said, accusing the AAP government of committing corruption in a host of sectors ranging from school education to fighting pollution and liquor trade”.

“This year will usher in a new politics of nation-building and people’s welfare. Therefore, ‘aapda’ has to be removed and the BJP brought in,” the PM said.

Addressing a public meeting in Ashok Vihar’s Ramlila Ground, Modi took a dig at former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal saying “Mai bhi koi sheeshmahal bana sakta” (I could have also built a palace for myself).

“The country knows it well that Modi never built a home for himself but has built more than 4 crore houses for the poor… ‘Mai bhi koi sheeshmahal bana sakta..” (I could have also built a palace for myself)’. I urge all of you, whenever you interact and meet with slum dwellers, to ensure to tell them on my behalf that they will definitely get pucca houses, if not today, then tomorrow,” the PM said.

During the event, he also inaugurated a series of development projects across the city, including 1,675 flats for residents of JJ clusters.

The flats, located at the Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar, are part of the government’s efforts to provide affordable housing to eligible beneficiaries in the economically weaker section (EWS).

He also laid the foundation stone for the Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh.

The new college will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including academic blocks in East Delhi and Dwarka, aimed at providing modern learning environments for students.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation for three new projects at Delhi University worth over Rs 600 crore.

Speaking about the development projects, Modi said,”A new college in the name of Veer Savarkar is going to be built in Najafgarh… Those who have been in power in Delhi for the last 10 years – have damaged school education. The money that the central government has given to Delhi – the current government of Delhi hasn’t even spend half of that money in education”.

“Today, the entire nation is united in its mission of building a Viksit Bharat. Our resolve is to ensure that every citizen has a pucca house, and we are working tirelessly to achieve this goal” he added.
