Jammu: A shootout occurred in the New Plot area of Jammu yesterday over a parking dispute.

In the incident, Advocate Kanav Sharma was parking his vehicle outside the PDD lineman room when Ravinder Singh, a PDD employee, objected to it.

Officials, sharing the details, told the news agency JKNS that the situation quickly escalated into an argument and a scuffle.

They said that during the altercation, Ravinder Singh pulled out his licensed pistol and fired two shots at Kanav Sharma. The injured advocate was rushed to Sarwal Hospital for first aid and later transferred to GMC for further treatment.

They said that Ravinder Singh fled the scene immediately after the incident. Jammu Police responded quickly, securing the crime scene and calling in FSL teams and crime photographers. “They launched a manhunt and, using both technical and human intelligence, successfully apprehended Ravinder Singh. The weapon used in the crime was also recovered,” said the officials.

They added that Ravinder Singh, a permanent government employee posted at Parade, Jammu, was performing duties at New Plot at the time of the incident. A case has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar under FIR No. 01/2025, and investigations are ongoing.—(JKNS)
