Srinagar: Health Minister Sakina Masood Itoo on Saturday said that no compromise will be accepted in patient care in hospitals across J&K.

Sakina also clarified that there is no proposal from the government to shift the CD Hospital to GB Pant Sonwar.

During her visit to the CD Hospital, Sakina Masood Itoo, as per the news agency JKNS, said, “The purpose of these visits is to address complaints about inadequate patient care and internal challenges faced by hospital staff, including doctors, superintendents, and paramedical workers.”

She stressed that hospital visits are aimed at resolving these issues, adding, “There should be no compromise on patient care. Where challenges exist, the government will intervene to ensure services are delivered efficiently.”

When asked about a potential shift of the CD Hospital to GB Pant Sonwar, Itoo clarified, “There is no proposal to shift the CD Hospital. However, congestion, lack of beds, and the absence of lifts and ramps are issues that require attention, and we will work to resolve them.”

Regarding the behavior of medical professionals, the minister urged, “I call upon doctors to improve their approach toward patients and ensure care is delivered in the best possible manner.”

When asked about negligence in private hospitals, she stated firmly, “Arrogance or negligence, no matter how influential the person or institution, will not be tolerated. Patient care is a priority, and there will be no room for compromise.”

Sakina assured that the government remains dedicated to addressing public grievances and enhancing healthcare infrastructure across J&K.—(JKNS)
